Do you print on customer provided shirts or can I bring in my own garments? No. We must print or sew on garments that we provide. We work with suppliers who design their garments specifically for the decorated apparel industry. Many garments purchased at retail stores are not "printing or embroidery friendly" because of seams, pockets, snaps, flaps, straps, finishes, etc. We stand behind the quality of our work, and cannot do so when the garments have not been supplied by Monkey in a Dryer. Please call to discuss the details of your project with one of our friendly staff.
What is your turn around time? Typically around 2 weeks or less plus shipping time.
Do you have rush service? If you need your order faster than 2 weeks - we can usually accommodate this. However, if we are extremely busy and we have to move scheduled jobs around to fit your order in, we may have to charge you a rush fee. For orders under one week a fee of 25% of the total order will be added.
What are your hours of operation? We typically answer the phones M-F 9am-5pm and emails all day long (and often into the evening & weekends). Pick ups can be arranged after hours by appointment.
Do you have weekend hours? Not typically. We may sometimes work overtime on the weekends if we have some catching up to do, but we generally don't have specific hours we are here. If you need to pick up on the weekend, let us know before hand and we may be able to accommodate you.
Where are you located? We own a very large, historic barn on our home property in Richfield, MN (a suburb of Minneapolis). We have fully renovated it into our working studio. This location is for pickup only. We have a showroom that is available by appointment on Tuesdays & Thursdays. We can also ship samples to you at wholesale prices plus shipping charges. Please note that we do often deal with customers from all over the United States and will ship nation wide.
Do you actually print the t-shirts at your shop? Yes, we are a full service print shop. We have an automatic printing press with capabilities of printing up to 500 shirts per hour.
What is your minimum order for screen printing? 24 pieces of the SAME design. This could be a combination of t shirts, long sleeves, sweatshirts, etc. as long as the design is the same size & ink color on each item. If you have less than 24 pieces, we can certainly print your item(s) digitally.
What is your maximum print area? Our largest area we can print up to is 14 inches wide by 17 inches tall.
Do you charge a set-up/screen fee? Absolutely not. There are NO hidden fees - EVER. The price we quote you is the price you pay, period.
Do you do one off shirts? No - for screen printing - our minimum is strictly 24 (due to the amount of time it takes to set up a job). We can do one-off (or anything less than 24) with Digital Printing.
Do you do all over printing? Yes. 300 piece minimum. Please read the following before placing your order.
The following limitations, terms and conditions apply to All-over printing:
Artwork must be reviewed prior to final quote on any all over print job. Monkey in a Dryer retains the right to refuse to print any job that in our sole discretion is deemed to be problematic or not produce-able. Monkey in a Dryer is happy to discuss artwork issues that may affect the final print with customers, if you have a specific question about your artwork, please ask.
All over prints are rarely perfect - as such the standard for misprints with all over shirts is different than a standard screen print the following applies:
Butt registration of multi color artwork is not guaranteed. Monkey in a Dryer is very good at holding close registration on all over prints and most gaps from registration issues will typically be 1/16th of an inch or less. Gaps of up to 1/8 inch in butt registration can happen and will not be considered misprints.
Large areas of solid color may have an ink deposit or build up on them over a run if that part of the design is over a seam of the garment. Additionally large areas of solid ink coverage will cause any crease or fold in the garment that did not print to show gaps in ink coverage more prominently. While Monkey in a Dryer makes ever effort to insure that the garments are flat when printing all over prints, creases and folds of less than 3 inch length and ¼" wide should be expected and are not considered misprints.
Ink coverage can vary from garment to garment and vary as the print goes over seams and collars. While Monkey in a Dryer takes every effort to minimize any flaws in our prints, the issues listed here are representative of standard inconsistencies seen in all over prints and should be expected; as such, we cannot guarantee them from being in the final product.
All over printing is done with water base or discharge inks standard. Expect that colors may be more muted than a standard plastisol print and white discharge may be more of a 'creamy' white than a true bright white as this is standard with discharge white inks. For more information on color matching please refer to that section.
We have templates which we can provide for all over prints which show the garment layouts for several popular shirt brands in order to help with artwork layout. These are available to our customers free of charge, but the templates are the sole property of Monkey in a Dryer and are not to be forwarded.
Do you offer digital printing? Yes, click here for a digital printing price quote.
Do you do sample shirts? No.
What is a "proof"? A proof is a way of ensuring that we have designed your job accurately and that everything is positioned according to your requirements. Typically, we will produce a proof which will be sent to you online. Your approval on the final proof is assurance that you have looked over every aspect of our work and approve it as accurate. It benefits everyone if errors are caught in the proofing process rather than after the job is completed and delivered.
Do you provide a PROOF? Yes! Customers are ultimately responsible for insuring their artwork is correct prior to order production. When customers submit their own artwork for an order the artwork will be considered to have been proofed once submitted to Monkey in a Dryer. If artwork submitted is still in draft form, the customer must make Monkey in a Dryer aware that the art provided is not the final artwork for the order, and the order will go on hold until final artwork is approved.
If Monkey in a Dryer creates the artwork for the customer the customer will have an opportunity to proof the art prior to production. Customers should carefully review their graphics and should pay particular attention to spelling if your graphic incorporates words. If printed colors are critical to your project we recommend that customers verify the colors chosen for print against a Pantone book, proofs against a paper print or computer monitor screen for color cannot be guaranteed.
Once the customer has approved the artwork, Monkey in a Dryer will not be held responsible should the order be completed and later found to have errors due to spelling or other issues when the final product's graphic matches the customer approved art.
Do you match Pantones? COLOR MATCHING - Pantone colors are an industry standard and as such we expect provided artwork to call out specific pantone colors. When artwork calls out specific Pantones there is no charge for us to mix Pantones for your order. Customers who do not specify a specific Pantone Color are subject to our 'eye' match.
Waterbase Inks require more work to match colors and as such they will incur a $10.00 fee when a specific color is requested to be matched.
Please note that color matching is not guaranteed to perfectly match due to a large number of variables which affect color matching. Monkey in a Dryer will make every effort to match your color as close as possible.
What type of inks do you use? Monkey in a Dryer uses only the best inks on the market today. Our ink of choice is Wilflex Epic Phthalate free inks. Meaning they are free of added plastisizers, are certified to be lead free and are compliant with the CPSIA laws. Better for the environment and better for you. We also use water-based inks from Matsui. These inks are both PVC and phthalate free inks.
When it comes to sustainable apparel, many focus on the materials used to manufacture the garment but overlook the system used to to print it. Using environmentally friendly water-based inks and phthalate-free plastisol inks, we work with our clients to use screen printing solutions that present the least environmental impact depending on their design, desired colors, fabric, garment style.
